Meet Caroline, our Talent Partner at GAIL’s who’s been a breadhead with us since 2021.
Born in Ginea-Bissau in West Africa, Caroline grew up in Portugal from the age of four. Moving to the UK to initially pursue a career in fashion, Caroline found herself working in various managerial roles across the retail and hospitality industries. At this point she realised there was a career to be made in taking care of people in hospitality, whilst implementing her creativity and passion for branding. Working her way up in the industry came with a whole line of challenges. Breaking through stereotypes of race, age and gender to establish herself in her career, becoming an Area Manager.
Just before the second lockdown in 2021, Caroline secured an Operations Manager position with GAIL’s, looking after our Regents area. Recalling her interview process, she mentioned how refreshing it was to be interviewed by a female panel; with a definitive focus on people leading the conversations. .
After a year in Operations, Caroline joined our Talent Team – honing her passion for people and in-depth knowledge of GAIL's to support our operations team with recruitment. These days you'll find her building strong succession plans for our bakeries through internal development days as well as finding new talent to join our teams (and her outfits at the GAIL’s quarterly awards deserve recognition in their own right).
