ABOUT THE ROLE
This role will support the long term food vision and annual plans by responding to commercial briefs through the development and improvement of food concepts. The role is very much a collaborative one with day to day involvement with many teams within the Gail’s business and wider group. The responsibilities of the role fall within three main pillars, Seasonal Launches, Ongoing Strategy, Creative Direction.
seasonal Food Launches
• Provide pen and paper creative responses to commercial briefs from the business throughout our 5 seasonal launchers per year • Develop concepts and recipes across cakes, savouries, and sandwiches
• Support head of food concepts throughout concept development process from ideation through to launch • Steward all food launches through development phases from a food, packaging and bakery execution perspective
• Work with food and L&D teams to develop training materials that ensure concepts are executed to exceptional quality standards across our bakeries.
• Protect the purity of concept through development phases with manufacturing partners
• Lead initial packaging and equipment concept research and ideation
• Respond to the needs of the business in defining and supporting quality standards, troubleshooting
Strategy
• Project manage strategic, collaborative and continuous food driven improvement projects in collaboration with our partners from a 2-5 year perspective
• Contribute and advise appropriate kitchen & equipment improvements that support longer term concept appetite
• Work closely with Bread and Coffee teams to ensure strategic alignment
• Work closely with our manufacturing partners to align manufacturing capabilities and feasibility with Gail’s food appetite
Creative
• Contribute and define creative direction of visual merchandising and sampling solutions
• Arrange and present internal tasting sessions to inspire and contribute towards ideation process
• Provide creative reviews of the global baking landscape to inspire and inform strategic and creative decision
ARE YOU THE MISSING INGREDIENT
- 5+ years experience in a food business
- Food manufacturing experience
- A deep understanding and passion for food and baking
- Kitchen and/or baking experience highly desirable
- Ability to project manage complex cross departmental projects
- Excellent relationship management skills
- A good understanding of food safety fundamentals
