At GAIL’s, safety is at the heart of everything we do. We’re looking for a passionate and proactive Safety Advisor to join our team and help champion a culture of safety across our bakeries and support functions.
This is a hands-on, influential role where you’ll provide expert guidance on food safety, fire safety, and health & safety, ensuring our teams operate safely, compliantly, and confidently every day.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Audits & Compliance
- Conduct regular audits and inspections across bakeries and operations
- Provide clear, supportive feedback and follow up on improvement actions
- Ensure compliance with legislation, food safety standards, and internal policies
- Manage investigations and non-compliance cases
Coaching & Training
- Deliver engaging training sessions on food safety and health & safety
- Coach teams to build confidence and accountability in safe working practices
- Promote a strong, positive safety culture across GAIL’s
New Bakery Openings
- Support the safe and compliant launch of new bakery sites
- Conduct pre- and post-opening inspections
- Partner with project teams to embed safety from day one
Risk Management
- Carry out risk assessments and develop practical risk mitigation strategies
- Implement preventative controls to reduce incidents and hazards
- Monitor effectiveness and continuously improve safety practices
New Product Support
- Collaborate on new product development to ensure safety compliance
- Review allergen information and labelling accuracy
- Support SOP creation and training for product launches
Systems & Reporting
- Maintain and improve safety systems (e.g. Trail, GoAudits)
- Produce clear, actionable reports for stakeholders
- Support system users with training and troubleshooting
Documentation & Strategy
- Develop policies, procedures, and safety documentation
- Analyse data, identify trends, and contribute to safety strategy
- Support departmental planning and continuous improvement initiatives
ARE YOU THE MISSING INGREDIENT
- Food Safety qualification (e.g. HACCP, Level 4, BRC)
- Health & Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH, Level 4 H&S)
- Experience in food safety and health & safety, ideally in food/retail environments
- Strong understanding of relevant regulations and compliance frameworks
- Excellent communication and coaching skills
- Confident working both independently and collaboratively
- Highly organised, with strong time management and prioritisation skills
- Analytical thinker with a proactive, solution-focused approach
- Passionate about continuous learning and improvement
